Florida businessman E. Llwyd Ecclestone, Jr. has enjoyed a varied career in commercial real estate. As a developer, Llwyd Ecclestone, Jr. worked to enhance the PGA National Resort and Spa, which boasts several unique golf courses.

One of the PGA National Resort and Spa’s newer courses, The Staple, is significantly different than the other championship 18-hole courses at the resort. Named after the course’s designer, Andy Staples, it is a modern nine-hole course with a few twists. Short par-three courses are becoming more popular and The Staple aims to make golf more enjoyable by shortening the playing time and creating a fun social environment.

The Staple features very short hole distances with unique rolling greens, difficult shelves, and even tees placed in bunkers. The resort boasts that every hole on the course can be played with just a putter and can accommodate golfers of all skill levels. Groups of up to eight are welcome to golf together to increase the social aspect of the game. The course features a figure-eight format with a central outdoor seating area complete with a bar, café, and firepits for use during and after play.
